Los Angeles Metro Gold Line - Eastside Extension

Client: Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA)
Project location: Los Angeles, California
Project cost: $898.8 million
DMJM Harris is the lead design consultant to Eastside Constructors for this design/build six-mile extension of the Los Angeles-to-Pasadena Metro Gold Line. Scheduled to open in 2009, the Eastside Extension light rail line will run from downtown’s Union Station to East Los Angeles.
The Eastside Extension will feature eight stations—two underground—and twin 1.8-mile-long tunnels under the Boyle Heights portion of the route. The tunnels will be dug using two earth pressure balance machines. The route will terminate at the junction of Atlantic and Pomona Boulevards.
DMJM Harris is responsible for final design of all above ground stations, all track work and systems, and the finishes of the tunnel and underground stations.
