Client: City of Olympia
Project location: Olympia, Washington
Project cost: $37 million
DMJM Harris was selected by the City of Olympia, Washington, to provide overall program management, environmental permitting, public involvement, and right-of-way services for the $37 million 4th/5th Avenue Corridor Improvements program. The program’s main feature called for the reconstruction and widening of the 80-year old 4th Avenue Bridge to three vehicle lanes, plus sidewalks and bike lanes on both sides.
Originally completed in 1919 and listed on the Olympia Cultural Resources Inventory, the design of the new structure incorporated historical features. Other improvements along the corridor include the addition of two roundabouts to replace currently deficient intersections as well as the integration of art into the project.
