Cleveland Freeway Management System Design

Client: Ohio Department of Transportation (DOT)

Project location: Cleveland, Ohio

Project cost: $2.5 million

DMJM Harris is designing the freeway management system for the Ohio DOT. The project covers an area of more than 300 miles and includes the following sub-systems: 28 dynamic message signs; 80 closed-circuit television cameras; 47 non-invasive/non-intrusive detectors; two highway advisory radios; and 87 miles of fiber-optic communications supported by wireless communications in certain areas. We are also responsible for the design of a Transportation Management Center to monitor and control the freeway management system and interface with other regional transportation and emergency response partners.
