Highways/Bridges
DMJM Harris’s infrastructure experience encompasses every aspect of highway and bridge rehabilitation, from local intersection improvements to interstate reconstruction and bridge construction. Even before the country began showing a renewed interest in rebuilding its transportation infrastructure, DMJM Harris was deeply involved in several state programs to inspect and rehabilitate aging roadways and ancillary facilities.
Our highway/bridge services include Planning and Environmental Services; Full Design Services; Construction Management and Inspection; Program Management; Project Delivery and Finance; and Security and Safety. We also specialize in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Toll Facilities.
Planning and Environmental Services
Successful highway and bridge projects begin with thoughtful planning—and the spark of new ideas. DMJM Harris planners listen to our clients and forge needs into project concepts. We carry our clients' vision through every conceptual plan, feasibility study, environmental assessment, impact report and technical report we produce. We manage public involvement to ensure that local stakeholders have a meaningful say. We engineer alternatives that respect community context and minimize environmental impacts. And we communicate complex planning information using the latest computer visualization technologies.
Full Design Services
DMJM Harris, an ISO-9000 certified firm, delivers a full array of design and engineering services for all types of highway projects. We also provide full design and inspection services for movable, high-level and cable stay bridges. We leverage our clients' inherent strengths to deliver every potential advantage. We utilize the latest technologies to achieve peak performance and sustainability from new transportation facilities, and our expertise in rehabilitation and seismic retrofit is an asset for maintaining existing structures. We also offer analytical and strategic expertise for every stage of project implementation.
Construction Management and Inspection
Assuring quality during highway and bridge construction is essential. DMJM Harris provides construction management (CM), as well as construction engineering and inspection (CEI), for major highway and bridge projects nationwide. Our project managers are seasoned professional engineers who work side-by-side with project owners in the field to ensure design integrity and safety compliance. We are also experts in the art of construction phase traffic mitigation to keep vehicles—and commerce—flowing while roadways and bridges are being constructed or rehabilitated.
Program Management
As a highway or bridge program manager, we become an extension of our client. A team approach enhances the quality and timeliness of the program management services we offer, including project definition, preliminary design, financing strategies, right-of-way acquisition, agency coordination, estimating, project controls and scheduling. Our universe of available services allows us to support clients from project concept though start-up and operation.
ITS and Toll Facilities
Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and advanced toll collection technologies are transforming highway and bridge operations. DMJM Harris is a national leader of this revolution; we design advanced transportation management centers that function as a project "brain" to process and control computerized traffic signals, freeway management, dispatching, traveler information and more. One of our most of noteworthy projects is the Florida DOT District 6 Traffic Management Center in Miami-Dade County.
Security and Safety
Roadway systems, especially bridges, face new and evolving security and safety requirements. DMJM Harris conducts vulnerability analysis and threat detection to determine security needs for transportation facilities nationwide. And we stand ready to integrate systems for intrusion warning, alarms management, closed-circuit television (CCTV) and video surveillance systems and more in infrastructure design.
